Powersports, Medical Assisting Programs Re-Accredited at 窪蹋勛圖厙

September 13, 2016

Two popular programs have recently been reaccredited at 窪蹋勛圖厙. The consistently well-enrolled Medical Assisting and Powersports/Small Engines Technician programs continue to offer relevant, certified instruction to meet the growing needs of their respective industries.

This is the first year that the relatively new Powersports/Small Engine Technician program has been accredited. The program draws students from around the state due to its particular focus on small engines ranging from chainsaws to string trimmers to snowmobile to motor powered bicycles.

The Powersports/Small Engine Technician program has met an employer demand in Maine that previously had no college level education to support it, Alex Clifford, 窪蹋勛圖厙 Academic Dean said. It is really a unique, one-of-a-kind opportunity that is now accredited by a nationally recognized organization. We couldnt be prouder of our faculty.

窪蹋勛圖厙s Medical Assisting program has been accredited since 2002. After a rigorous accreditation process the program has been reaccredited for another 5 years. This program produces certified and qualified workers in the medical field, a field that continues to grow on a national basis. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the need for medical assistants is expected to increase by 23% between 2014 and 2024.

Students who graduate from the Medical Assisting program are eligible to take the Certified Medical Assistant Exam offered by the American Association of Medical Assistants.
Only students who graduate from an accredited program like ours are eligible to sit for this exam, instructor Cindy Moholland points out. Being certified is essential because as of January 1, 2013, only credentialed medical assistants (in addition to licensed health professionals) may enter orders into an electronic health record.
